DIY $50 Christmas Wreath… for Under $20!

Once upon a time, I was a broke millennial. Oh, wait… that’s me right now. Lol. Once upon literally right at this moment, the holidays were upon me. And I need some decorations to spruce up the place! I desperately wanted a beautiful wreath, preferably one that lights up since I hadn’t put up any Christmas lights (yes, I’m lazy, I know. but those things are a lot of work!!). But all of the ones that checked my boxes were way outta my price range! So I set off to Pinterest to try and find a wreath that my unskilled hands could make.

Alas. All the ones I liked required HOT GLUE. Heck, THAT’S MORE WORK THAN THE STUPID CHRISTMAS LIGHTS. You know what they say about lazy people, though. They find the easiest way to solve problems because it means less work for them! So that’s what I did.

I ventured to Target first, but everything there was sooooo not within my budget. I was looking to assemble my own perfect wreath, but even their simple ones were overpriced! Through the doors I walked, hopped in my car, and drove to Michael’s.

This was an excellent decision.

I found this simple wreath with only the fake snow and pinecones for $9! And then just kind of wandered around, picking up things I liked and thought would go well with it. Here’s what I ended up with:

A big ol’ red bow – $2

Some berries – 2 for $1

Some glittery poinsettia flowers – 3 for $2

Battery-operated red string lights – $3

My pinecone snow-kissed wreath – $9

TOTAL: $17

And do you know what the best part is? I didn’t have to hot glue DIDDLY SQUAT. The bow and flowers had twisty bread-tie things on the back of them, so I just twisted them onto some branches and boom. Good to go. The berries? Honestly I just stuck them in there. And I’ve shaken that wreath all around – those berries aren’t going anywhere. Lastly, treated the lights like they were going on a Christmas tree and wove them in with the branches! I hid the little battery on/off box up at the top behind the big ol’ red bow.

My friends. If you want a wreath that checks all your boxes withOUT having to *check* your bank balance to make sure you can afford it, I highly recommend heading to your local craft store! Michaels, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn’s, whatever! It’s so much cheaper and probably took me about 5 minutes to put it all together once I got home. Plus I had the joy that comes from making something yourself and loving every part of it because, like… I did that. You know???

If this post happened to inspire you to make your own wreath, I would love to see it!! Shoot me an Instagram DM please and thank you! 🙂

Candidly,

Kristianna
