My Favorite Healthy Travel Snacks
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about all my road trip essentials. Some of those essentials are healthy snacks to munch on! However, I didn’t want to limit it to just road trip snacks. So here’s a list of my favorite air-friendly (and car-friendly) healthy snacks!
Lara Bars
When I was on Whole30, these saved by butt on more than one occasion. I love them because they don’t have any added sweeteners – just dates! Also, NO idea how they make them taste so deliciously accurate with so few ingredients. The pecan pie bar has THREE THINGS: dates, pecans, and almonds. And it tastes just like pecan pie!! I can only come up with one explanation: witchcraft.
Dang Coconut Chips
These are a recent discovery and I am in LOVE! So far I’ve only tried the caramel sea salt flavor, but I can’t wait to try the others. They’re a great source of fiber and have less sugar than an apple! (Not saying a handful of coconut chips a day will keep the doctor away, but it’s definitely a yummy way to switch things up)
Fresh Fruit
One of the easiest snacks you could bring – fruit! Whether that be a banana, apple, orange, etc. And if you want something like strawberries or grapes, I’d recommend freezing them in a ziploc bag ahead of time and then snagging them before leaving for the airport! That way they’re sealed up for TSA but should still be nice and cold for your flight (or the wait beforehand)!
Slim Jims
Okay, so these aren’t exactly healthy. BUT they are very, very low carb and yummy, in my opinion! Plus they’re packed with protein and easy to travel with. I always have a couple of these mini ones on hand in case of a snack attack!
Nuts, Nuts, Nuts!
I have so many favorite kinds of nuts, but here are a couple. Almonds are okay, but I’m obsessed with the Blue Diamond Oven Roasted Dark Chocolate ones. Then again, I think the chocolate-covered version of just about anything is better. 😉 I also loooooooove Sahale snacks! The maple pecan is my favorite. Sure, they’re coated in sugar, but it’s nuts and fruit, so that’s healthy… right?
Justin’s Individual Nut Butters
Who here is a Nutella fiend? If you didn’t raise your hand, I’m going to assume it’s because your arms are broken. Because Nutella is INCREDIBLE. But you know what else is incredible? Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter. It has wayyyyy less sugar than Nutella and it’s made with way better ingredients! Justin’s nut butters are so convenient for traveling because every flavor comes in a squeeze pack! The honey almond butter is amazing with apple slices, lemme tell ya.
Applesauce Squeeze Pouches
Now, with applesauce you’ve gotta be careful because so many of them have a ton of added sugar! I love this brand because it’s literally just apples and cinnamon. They have a version with just apples, too, but I prefer it with cinnamon. *shrug*
Dark Chocolate
Once again, maybe not THE healthiest option, but when you’re craving something sweet, it’s better to reach for dark chocolate than milk! DC has been proven to have several health benefits when consumed in moderation. Plus it’s delicious. I tried these for the first time last week and fell in love!
Skinny Pop
Yet another snack that’s so easy to toss in a ziploc bag and go! They have individual bags, too, but I have a feeling it would be less expensive to just buy a big bag and divvy it out. I love this brand because it’s all natural, non GMO, no artificial flavors/colors, etc. The white cheddar version is scrumdiddliumptious!
Veggie/Fruit Chips
My aunt introduced me to Terra Vegetable Chips a few years ago and I’ve honestly never tried any other kind. That’s how amazing they are! Their sweet potato chips have a salted and unsalted version, perfect for when you’re craving your typical crunchy potato snack! Bare has a few different kinds of fruit chips, but here’s a variety pack with two different ones!
Olly Protein Bars
One of my absolute favorite bloggers, Olivia Rink, recommended these a few weeks ago, so I had to try them! And I’m SO GLAD I did. These are protein + slim boost (metabolism support) and suuuuper yummy. They have several flavors, but so far I’ve only tried the lemon creme ones. I can’t wait to try the others!
I hope this list has helped you prepare for your next trip! I’m going to be spending about 12 hours traveling to NYC next week, so you KNOW I’m packing several of these in my bag. Have a great week, friends!
Candidly,
Kristianna

This is a great list to have and save for later! I know that on road trips it’s really hard to stay on track with eating healthy, but this list definitely comes in handy when planning one. Thanks for these suggestions!
